Kids Intro to Ceramics: Wheel Throwing

6 weeks | January 8 - February 12 Wednesdays 5pm - 6:30pm Join Instructor Kim as she introduces you to ceramics! No experience needed, Kim will guide you from the very beginning. This 6-week course will be an introduction to wheel thrown ceramics and hand building. Within this once-a-week course, this class will learn how to create functional ceramics on a potter's wheel and by hand. The class will begin with learning how to center clay, create basic forms, and become comfortable with our tools and equipment. Students will progress into learning how to throw a variety of forms and learn building techniques as they build confidence with clay. Trimming techniques will be taught to refine students' work. Projects will include making functional ware from start to finish such as cups, mugs and bowls. As well as sculptures such as figurines, trays, and other forms of art using clay. Our course will finish with learning about the glazing process as everyone glazes their own work. All levels welcome. Repeat students welcomed. In addition to class time, our 6 weeks course includes our Studio + Membership ($105 + value)! This includes access to the studio during open hours except during private events, a work-in-progress shelf, and access to studio glazes. Ages 8 - 16
