Kids Intro to Ceramics: Wheel Throwing

6 Weeks | August 19 - September 23 Mondays at 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM Join Instructor Clarissa as she introduces young artists to the exciting world of ceramics! No experience is needed! Clarissa will guide students from the very beginning. This 6-week course is an introduction to both wheel-thrown ceramics and handbuilding. Meeting once a week, students will learn how to create functional pottery on the potter's wheel as well as imaginative projects by hand. The course begins with learning how to center clay, create basic forms, and become comfortable using pottery tools and equipment. As students build confidence, they'll progress into throwing a variety of forms while also exploring handbuilding techniques. Trimming methods will be introduced to help refine each piece before finishing with the glazing process, where every student will glaze their own creations. Projects throughout the course include functional pottery such as cups, mugs, and bowls, as well as creative sculptures, figurines, trays, and other unique clay creations. All skill levels are welcome, and repeat students are encouraged to continue developing their ceramic skills. In addition to class time, our 6-week course includes our Studio+ Membership (a $105+ value)! This includes access to the studio during open hours (excluding private events), a work-in-progress shelf, and access to our studio glazes. Ages 8–16
